Name: Women Build 2023 Day 1
Date: May 11, 2023
Time: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
Join a community of local women volunteering together to celebrate our strengths and have fun while building permanent and affordable homes for local families. Women Build is a national initiative to provide safe and decent homes for families in need of affordable housing by recruiting, educating, and inspiring those in our community to fundraise and build. Through these efforts, lives are transformed. Construction volunteers can expect to engage in activities based on the tasks required to build a home from start to finish, but during Women Build, efforts are focused on framing the home and experiencing the thrill of working together to raise the walls. The minimum age to volunteer is 16 years old. Anyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a chaperone over the age of 21. Construction will take place on East Blvd in Chipley. Build day check-in will open at 7:30 a.m. and the workday will end at 4 p.m. Water, snacks, and lunch will be provided. Dress Code There are a few requirements for attire on the construction site: Closed-toe tennis shoes or boots are required. Wear clothes you will not mind getting dirty. Sturdy pants such as jeans are best. Avoid skirts or leggings. Wear work gloves and hard hats. Chipola Habitat will provide them. Light-colored, cotton clothing and a hat are recommended due to heat. Sunscreen is always a good idea. Jewelry is discouraged as it can get damaged or lost very easily. Please do not bring purses, pets, or children to the work site. Parking Parking attendants will be on hand to direct traffic flow and parking. If you need additional assistance due to disability or injury, please reach out to our staff via officeassistant@chipolahabitat.org to make special arrangements.
